Make a caption index

Number the pages in a notebook and list the people or occasions on each. Add a photograph filename where a digital copy exists. A simple index makes an album useful even before every page is finished.

Keep the finished note with its date and source material. Return to it when you repeat the exercise, and add what changed rather than replacing the earlier observation.
